Frequently asked questions

What is an ex-libris?

An ex-libris is a personalised engraving or stamp pressed onto the first page of a book, showing the name of its owner or of the library it belongs to.

How many letters can I add to this ex-libris?

On this ex-libris you can add up to 20 characters. If the name is longer, get in touch!

How is this ex-libris made?

Every design is drawn by Lauren, our illustrator.

It is then engraved by hand onto a wooden handle fitted with a rubber plate.

What is a numbered edition?

Every design in our collection is engraved in series of twelve numbered copies.

When a series is complete, it is closed for good and never reopened. The same design may, however, return later in the year depending on demand, in a new series with its own numbering. It's the principle of successive print runs of a book!

Your copy therefore carries two numbers: that of its series, and its own within it. Both are given to you in your order confirmation email.
